    Since our research began in the Spring of 2001 we have been ranking all stocks in the Russell 3000 on a scale of 1 - 10.   The chart below shows the performance of a portfolio invested in each ranking.  The best performing group (the 10's in light green) have outperformed the 9's, which have outperformed the 8's, and so forth.  Our results do not include the effect of dividends and the portfolios are equally weighted investments in all stocks holding a 10 ranking at the beginning of the month.  At the start of the next month the portfolios are rebalanced.
 
 

Annualized
The annualized returns can be seen better when placed next to each other like the chart on the bottom.  A portfolio of all the '10' ranked stocks, rebalanced monthly would have returned 26.2% annualized over the last 9 1/2 years.  

Of course this doesn't mean every stock within each ranking decile will perform exactly the same and also exceed the lower ranked stocks.  This information gives us the confidence to go further in our research and understand why this particular stock may be a success.
